Some of you have been inquiring as to what is planned for cellulosicethanol.com.

Following is a brief statement regarding the future.

As you may or may not know, cellulosic ethanol production is in its infancy. Never-the-less, it seems as though everyday there is announcement regarding increased efficiencies, technology breakthroughs, and scientific discoveries regarding increased yields due to genetic modifications of the enzymes that are used to break cellulosic material into ethanol.

The intention is to wait it out with cellulosicethanol.com until enough of these newly created or discovered enzymes are available to drive down the cost of “micro-stills” (home/farm & municipal) production.

Realistically, the hurdles are in many ways even bigger than that of the large plants that can take advantage of “economy of scale” factors, and only now are the large plants beginning to produce ethanol from cellulosic sources.  However, there are also unique advantages that do not apply to large process plants.  Some are, a very low relative capital investments when compared to the tremendous capital investments required before the first gallon can be produced from a large plant, “free labor,” in the sense that a bit of extra time spent on a farm to produce ethanol is often considered a labor of love (and even an act of patriotism); free feedstock – as mentioned above, and tax advantage of a “home brew,” as opposed to gasoline at a retail station.  Not to mention the avoidance of multi-million dollar environmental impact statements that are required before a large plant can break ground.

It is hoped that, in a short period of time, cellulosicethanol.com can offer micro-still equipment, enzymes, feedstocks, one-pass equipment, information materials, greenhouse information, address import/export marketing issues, feedstock growing tips, supplies, etc.
